Our Therapists

Meet our team of therapists. Get to know us a little better first!

My career-long dream has been to open my very own counseling practice. I envisioned a practice that hosted community events like Mental Health Awareness workshops, teen support groups, couples workshops and research-based counseling. My dream has come true and it is my greatest pleasure to serve my community in such ways. Thank you for your interest in Burning Sage!

As a therapist, I partner with my clients to create a genuine relationship, working with them to learn about their life thus far, experience joy and laughter and achieve their customized goals. I believe that life isn't about getting things perfect, it’s about achieving your individual best. There is only one person who can help you become your best self....you!

As a former active duty Marine, I enjoy relating to others who know the military lifestyle. As a former school counselor, I have a strong passion to guide school-age children through our ever-changing world. I also love working with families and couples to assist with parenting, relationship issues, communication and trust.  Finding and building on individual strengths within each family in order to grow in harmony is key. Helping families learn to respect the individuality of each person while maintaining a harmonious relationship is my ultimate goal when working with families and couples.

I have extensive experience with people of all ages and cultural backgrounds. You will find my approach to your therapeutic journey is genuine and I thrive on connecting with my clients by creating individualized treatment plans with you. The strategies and interventions utilized will be unique to each client and are evidenced based – meaning they have been proven effective in others. I will greet you with my honest and empathetic personality without judgement or any agenda of my own. The focus is always you and reaching your greatest potential!  Hope to meet you real soon.

Sara Mann- Not accepting Clients

Licensed professional Counselor Supervisor, LPC-S

Greetings! My name is Sara, I'm  a Licensed Professional Counselor. I have a passion for working with children, adolescents, adults, families, couples and people from all cultures and stages in life. I enjoy working with people who identify as LGBTQ+ or are exploring this in themselves.

I approach people with a humble curiosity. I believe that people know themselves best, so when I'm invited into their world, I do so as their guest. Through exploring situations together and working with people's strengths, we will find a way forward together to resolve the situation and/or enhance the person's life.

Finding strengths in people is the way forward. Building on successes builds self-esteem and confidence. When people have confidence, they are less afraid to take risks and fail. They are resilient.  My hope for the people I work with is that they can identify their strengths and grow into their best selves, finding what they seek in their life and being resilient through tough times.

I have unconditional positive regard and I am nonjudgmental in working with clients. With these foundational pieces set, we are free to explore, discover and work through what you'd like to see in your life. I use several theoretical bases, individualizing a plan to fit each client:

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma Focused CBT (TFCBT), Person Centered, Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused, Family Systems, Mindfulness and Meditation, Synergetic Play therapy

It's crucial to choose a counselor who you feel comfortable with. Feel free to meet with me and others before making your choice. Meeting with a counselor can (and I hope!)  is fun, enlightening and rewarding for you. Reach out, if you'd like to learn more or schedule a meeting

My name is Celeste. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate (LPCC).I have always wanted to be a person that could have a positive impact on someone’s life. A person they could talk to with no judgment but instead empathize with them in a safe environment. Sometimes all that is needed is someone to actually hear what they are saying. I enjoy working with people to help them learn how to understand feelings and where they come from. To help them to communicate effectively, express themselves fully, and achieve their individual goals.

I am originally from Hawaii and moved to Colorado as an adult. I worked within the military communities with children aged from 6 weeks to school-aged children and teenagers for over ten years in this beautiful Colorado Springs area. The best part of working within the military community was all of the different cultures I got to learn with, the diversities, and all people I got to meet along the way.

I have been seeing clients since March 2022 and have found I enjoy working with individuals of all ages, backgrounds, races, etc. I have also found that I really enjoy working with couples as well,

I look forward to seeing you.

Celeste Pacleb

Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate, LPCC

Hello! I’m Tabitha, I am a Colorado native and love the diversity that continues to grow here in my hometown. I am also a single mom of 2 kids and a Great Dane. In my self-care time, I enjoy video/ board games, nature walks, yoga, sports of all kinds, and anything art especially pottery, it’s just something about gettiing your hands dirty. I was influenced by my own experiences in life and in therapy to start this journey as a future counselor.

This aspect has created my desire to work in Clinical Mental Health counseling. I am currently an intern working towards my Master’s as a Licensed Professional Counselor. I have lived through several career paths that I believe have influenced this specific path for me, from being in animation, to massage therapy, to behavioral therapy, to teaching. Each area has provided me a set of skills that I now cherish as a counselor-in-training, and work to enhance as I learn more. As a former animator I appreciate and enjoy using techniques of play and art therapy. As a former behavioral therapist and educator, I have an empathetic passion to work with youth and young adults. As a former massage therapist, I acknowledge and appreciate exploring trauama through body work.

My goal is to be of service and support by fully acknowledging and accepting each individual as they are or who they desire to become. My approach is collaborative using a holistic and trauma-focused approach, culturally responsive, integrative, and tailored to each client. By focusing on each person’s emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual wellness I am here to assist in empowering driven individuals to create personalized toolboxes to practice self-care and create lives they enjoy living. As a future therapist I want nothing more than to provide a safe space where you feel comfortable while helping you get to a place where you can work toward healing.

Working with a Clinical Mental Health Intern

We are thrilled that you are interested in reaching out for support & are considering working with one of our Clinical Interns. Below are FAQs about what it means to work with an intern at Burning Sage. We understand that depending on the context, the word “intern” has different meanings and connotations. Our team values openness & transparency, including demystifying skepticism around mental health and therapy. We hope the answers below help you decide whether working with a Clinical Student Intern is right for you!

What is a “Clinical Mental Health Intern?”

Internship is a rite of passage for ALL helping & medical professions. Our interns are graduate students currently enrolled in accredited programs including Counseling, Rehabilitation Counseling or Social Work around the Colorado Springs area. Interns have finished- or are about to finish- all required coursework from their graduate programs, and are working towards completing internship hours so that they can pursue licensure in a mental health field.

Here at Burning Sage Therapy, Clinical Mental Health Interns have the same expectations as all other clinicians on the team, including maintaining a caseload and completing administrative tasks. However, interns execute these expectations on a smaller scale to make room for other expectations as outlined by their graduate programs.

What's it like working with an intern?

Working with a Clinical Student Intern is like being able to work with multiple Burning Sage providers simultaneously! Interns receive required weekly clinical supervision from our licensed Clinical Intern Supervisors. Supervisors are specially trained, fully licensed therapists. Additionally, interns are under the supervision of professors in their graduate programs. Everything discussed between an intern and supervisor remains confidential; you can be assured of your privacy.

Our interns also attend regular consultations with members of our clinical staff. Consultations involve receiving feedback from peers about one’s work with individual clients. This collaboration allows exposure to many different therapeutic styles & techniques which translates to YOU having a provider who is able to meet your concerns from a variety of professional, clinical lenses! No identifying information about a client is shared during consultations. Interns are also still students, which means that the latest clinical research is woven into their graduate curricula, beneficially informing their direct work with you during therapy sessions.

Derek Scullin

Intern of Counseling

My name is Derek and I am a Master’s Student in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I moved across the country from New Hampshire to work at Burning Sage and begin my professional life as a counselor. I have been looking forward to the opportunity to work in this capacity since I started my educational journey, and I am honored to be trusted with the important task of supporting individuals just like you. Choosing to work with me you will receive concerted effort, unconditional positive regard (with some tough love too), and impassioned empathic listening. I am extremely passionate about what can be accomplished during the therapy hour.

Counseling is a process in which success is determined by earnestness, effort, and honest communication. If you are thinking to yourself, ‘I am ready to do the work,’ or ‘I would like to find the motivation to succeed,’ now is the time for counseling! I am a partner in this process, and I want to balance providing fundamental psychoeducation, and problem-solving the unique challenges you find yourself facing. I am confident integrating mindfulness and meditation to the practice, and have experience working with individuals with a variety of concerns such as PTSD, addiction issues, bipolar, depression, anxiety, borderline personality, and ADHD.

In my free time I enjoy exploring new hiking trails and restaurants, watching TV dramas, and playing D&D.

Lizzie Brown

Intern of Counseling

Hi! My name is Lizzie, and I’m an intern in the process of getting a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I have a background in working with chronic pain, the body-brain connection, and trauma-informed counseling. I have a passion for working with children and adolescents, and believe that these populations experience more than they are often given credit for. In fully accepting each person as they are, I provide an empathetic therapeutic relationship where each client will feel listened to and understood, as I join you on your individualized journey of healing. I utilize play therapy, individual and group counseling, school-based counseling, and experiential techniques. I am here to listen, support, and provide an individual counseling experience for every client, as I believe every person is unique and deserves personalized counseling approaches and techniques tailored to your own experience with the world, yourself, and those around you. I will see you, hear you, and provide a warm therapeutic space to explore your personal needs, wants, and goals in order to tap into your inherent resiliency and ability to cope with your current and past struggles.

I am originally from Indiana, and moved to Colorado to pursue both my dream job of counseling and my favorite nature-based activities that were hard to come by in the Midwest. In my free time, I enjoy yoga, hiking, and making mini flower bouquets as I take walks to remind myself of the beauty around us. I look forward to learning about you and am proud of you for making this important step in your quest for supportive growth, reflection, and both self-understanding and acceptance! As my yoga instructor would say, “The hardest part is showing up,” and you are already showing up for yourself in beginning your counseling experience. I’m excited to start this collaborative and meaning-making relationship with you or your loved one!

Hi there! I'm Beth and I'm about to enter my 3rd year as a MSc student in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Originally from the United Kingdom, I lived in South-East Asia for many years where I immersed myself in the world of primary school education. This year marks my eighth year living in sunny Colorado with my family. One thing I firmly believe in is the remarkable power of individuals of all ages to evolve and transcend their challenges. As a passionate advocate for mental health awareness in children and adolescents, I want to help our future generations build skills that encourage resilience. I also have a keen interest in mindfulness practices in educational and therapeutic settings. I always take a person-centered approach to each individual, because only in a safe, judgment-free and empathetic environment can real growth and transformation take place.

Beth Branigan

Peer Specialist

My name is Katherine. I am a masters student in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.  Over the course of my adulthood I have had the pleasure of working with individuals of all ages and various demographics. I have worked in homes and clinical settings with populations that face emotional struggles, as well as medical special needs including: Epilepsy, Autism, ADHD, Depression, Anxiety, Bipolar Disorder and Schizophrenia, and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.  These experiences have fueled my interest in pursuing a deeper academic understanding of counseling and psychology.  I enjoy working with children and adults, and am so happy to be able to provide support to these populations as a counselor.

I have had the fortune of spending time in many different cities across the country.  My mother is from Germany and most of my family currently has settled in Chicago, Illinois.  My parents eventually moved to Texas and I was born in Dallas.  I obtained my Bachelors Degree from St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas, where I lived for many years. I have been a proud Colorado resident for nearly seven years, and I am so happy to be here.  I am grateful to have had an array of experiences with different places and cultures, and lend this to my work.  Some of my hobbies include hiking, playing piano, singing, cooking, and travel.

Through the journey of education and career, I have worked through an extensive number of obstacles.  I truly have counseling to thank for getting through these things.  I have had the fortune of being able to receive therapy that enabled me to be able to get back up again, after being effected by a series of hardships.  I do believe that over time counseling can teach us to be more able to understand our own thoughts and feelings, and how to maximize our own strengths.  I want to offer a place of true acceptance and emotional safety for my clients.  I want people to feel accepted as who they are, and to have a strong role in their own goals and successes in therapy.
